[Best tavern for RP?]

  1. I am new to Vanguard and play on the Seradon server. I was wondering where the best place would be to have some random world RP. I was thinking of doing something in the taverns, but the few I've been in don't have patrons that aren't NPC's. Which is a shame! They are such a perfect setting.
    /RP's with the NPC's all alone ;)
  2. ((Hey there and welcome to Seradon.
With the present population of the game, it is becoming more and more difficult to find RP specific guilds, and therefore RP specific events. There is the /tavern channel on the server, which a few folks of my guild are set to autojoin while roaming the lands of Telon, but we also have our /ally channel for folks looking to learn how to RP or to expand their ideas. For my family, most of our RP is during encounters with various folks in our travels, some are receptive of it, only a small number not so, and then of course there is our guild chat and any events that we host. The RPers are out there...our numbers are just smaller than I would like, unfortunately.
We are always up for chats, though, so please do feel free to give us a shout at any time in our channel, or tavern, or in tells.))
  3. Thank you for the warm welcome, Aasha. This will be a big help :)
  4. There use to be weekly RP nights at the Tradewind Tavern in Khal, just north of the riftway past the bank. As it was usually done on nights that I was bussy I never really got to attend. Maybe we should try and revive that tradition and have an informal RP tavern night?
  5. ((I think that trying to get something together on a weekly basis again is a great idea, Thothmose, and something that I feel that many of our RPers would like, once we get it going... And that, as with many things is the tricky part.
It seems that right now the RP populus on Seradon has fallen into a catch 22 type of situation where we have "I really enjoy chatting with folks who interact with me in character" and "I don't RP because I can't find anyone to RP with" therefore, there is seldom a catalyst for RP interaction because those who want to RP are often looking for someone to start the process, rather than starting it themselves. For us to move out of this circular logic, I feel that we have to make a first step.
I am more than happy to offer The Red Dragon Inn (the tavern of our guild hall) to anyone who would like to have a place open all the time for RP, as this might be more comfortable for folks who feel a bit "rusty" than being in a populated city where /say might be read and criticised. Our guild hall is on Keejay Cove and is open to the server, so anyone can visit at anytime. Just watch the dragon's head that guards the ale and wine kegs. There is still venom dripping from the fangs and it can smart a good bit if it lands in the right place!
Additionally, we (The Preferiti) are presently kicking around the idea of having a weekly lore group (open to anyone on the server, and not limited by number, if we need multiple groups, great!!!). Our present considerations are who would be able to make it one a pretty regular basis and when would be the best night to do it. Presently we are looking at Tuesday nights. The group would be a strickly lore based group, starting out in one of the racial starting areas (determined by the area gaining the most votes) and all gear would be gained from game content only (ie. no higher level characters sending gear to the group). This would give the feeling of starting out brand new and fighting for what we achieve! :)
If anyone is interested in this kind of grouping, please give me a shout and we can see where we can go on deciding location and play times.))
  6. A long, long time ago in a far off place (Hilsbury) the locals would gather in the Hargarad Tavern over their Saturday Morning Coffee and shoot the bull.
  7. Hmmmmm.... I think I like the idea of the Hilsbury Tavern..... Not as likely to be droped in on as Khal, but still easily accessed... I think we should just arbitrally pick a weeknight, spread the word, and see if we can get people to show up. =) I love the lore group idea as well. We've done simular in the past, just called it a static group, and we would pick a zone or dungon that we wanted to run that was off the beaten path. Always had a blast exploring the places infrequently traviled. Back to RP. I can think of a few guilds that are still fairly active that use to or still does some RP. If we can get in touch with people from those guilds at a minimum to spread the word that would probley be a good first step. I'll what ever night is settled on I'll make sure Aequinox knows about, and I'll let Safehaven know too (not sure how many rpers they have, but we raid with them every saturday so we have good ties with them). Cabal is still out there to some degree, as well as Karma's Reprisal.
