Come break stuff (5/23/13)

    Hey everyone,

I'll be putting some updates to the test server later today and was wondering if you guys would be able to try breaking it for me. Here's a list of what's needs breaking (or attempts, anyway).
    1. Improved the way we save character data to be more efficient in selecting what it saves and when. This will be most noticeable in raids when multiple people die. There should be no functionality difference visible to players, but there should be fewer lag spikes related to lots of players dying at the same time.
    2. Fixed a bug where players would log out with some buffs on and log back in with some buff effects not applying correctly.
      1. It's worth mentioning that my test case for this was the Necromancer Corruption orb, which had been reported before. The bug related to percentage modifiers of stats not getting loaded from persistence correctly. There still may be other cases where some things aren't getting loaded from persistence correctly, but there are far too many abilities for me to test one by one. My hope is that you players will know where to find them, if they are still out there at all.
    3. Made some improvements to the way /LFG works. First, we added a global LFG channel. When you type in this channel, it will automatically add you to the LFG listing. The same applies for /LFM, although /LFM can only be used by party leaders. Any suggestions on improving this functionality is welcome. Here are some examples of how to use it.
      1. "/lfg" - This will toggle your LFG status on or off and not send any messages to the channel.
      2. "/lfg KE 17 Warrior" - Sets your LFG status to true and sends "LFG KE 17 Warrior" to the chat channel.
      3. "/lfm" - This will toggle your LFM status on or off and not send any messages to the channel.
      4. "/lfm for KE. Need DPS." - Sets your LFM status to true and sends "LFM for KE. Need DPS." to the chat channel.

    Update 1:
    1. Some LFG improvement changes
      1. Using /LFG will now make "(LFG)" appear on your character's nameplate.
      2. Toggling LFG/LFM are mutually exclusive from /AFK. When you go /afk, it will remove your LFG and LFM status if they are true. The same goes with toggling LFG or LFM on--it will remove your AFK status.
    2. Screenshots
      1. You can now use the /ScreenshotName command to set a base name for your screenshots (which get a number added to them when actually taken). "/" and "\" are invalid characters. Please test other special characters that file systems don't like to see if they work.
      2. When you take a screenshot, you will now be told what the name of the screenshot is, and where it was saved to in relation to your installation directory.

    Known Issues
    1. You cannot currently filter LFG in the Chat Options window. - Fixed
    2. The LFG filter does not toggle on by default for the main chat window. However, once toggled, this will persist through sessions.
Just wanted to give you a heads up. I'll post in this thread again to let you know when it's ready on test.

    Thanks,
    TLoch

am guessing you didn't mean to type number 4 the way you did, Am thinking that announcing you are a 17 warrior really doesn't say that you need dps (or a healer). although it may be implied. grin

Haha. Yes. Was copy/pasting. I'll fix it now. =)

New player here, thank you for the global /LFG channel.

Do I have to /autojoin add lfg to see this channel in my chat window or is this automatically given to everyone?

EDIT: And yes, I know this is not on Live yet, just asking for when the time comes.
  6. TLoch Developer

Everybody will be autojoined to talk and hear on the lfg channel, however you will be able to untoggle it from your chat window in the same way you can with other channels.

Hey guys. I'm building Test now. It'll be up in about an hour. I'm adding a list of known issues to the top of this page.

    Test has been updated.

Do you guys have like a jira reporting system that might work out better for bug tracking? I'm familiar with the system, and I certainly don't mind filling out bug reports that way.
  10. TLoch Developer

As far as I'm aware, no.

messed around with the lfg stuff, , but was only one on. my bags and contents were still messed up on test so will put a new copy on , please run copy again soon. thx

Pushed +10% energy and +10% hp in tursh.

Hp before loging out:7917 Hp after loging back in : 7884
Energy before: 6700 energy after loging back in: 6436

Well your fix doesnt apply to civic buffs at least. cant test necro, not copied.

Then would it be possible to get visual identification on someone that is looking for group ? Sort of like how the /AFK puts (AFK) behind ur name, LFM and LFG could be put there for those commands?
  14. TLoch Developer

Was there absolutely no change on your character otherwise? (no other buffs, item equip changes, death penalty, combat form, or anything)
  15. TLoch Developer

Not a bad suggestion, although I wonder how useful it would be. How often do you see someone who is LFG, as opposed to finding people via chat?
  16. Alimora Well-Known Member

Well i people are hanging around in the quests hubs, it might lower the barrier of sending an invite or tell ( at last u know know its welcome). visual tags might also be a reminder to actually use the lfg tool.

Just died a couple times on test. Would it be an idea to remove buffs once you release or get ressed? i think everyone can agree this would be a better moment for the lag spike, besides not everyone will release at the same time so less stress.
Or you can even allow people to keep the buffs if they get combat rezzed. as an alternative to your anti zerking rez sickness. positive reinforcement rather than negative.

While dying i also noticed im still losing stats while gaining others after i die, that i only get back if i relog.

Example: i died. released, so have 10% sickness i have 7032 hp, 5539 energy and 1091-1256 attack
I relog: still have same 10% sickness. my hp is now 7058 hp, energy 5773 and 1013-1178 attack

So dying earned me: -26 hp - 234 energy and most spectaculary +78 attack range on both low and high.

The losing of stats also happends on live btw, just got a nice example now
  18. Alimora Well-Known Member

Nope, what i did was take the buffs, fly out of town so they dont get instant re-aplied when i log back in. and relog. no switching anything.

Buffs were support of the people and ... ill remember in a sec lol ... edit: stand up philosophy ofc!

Having a visual lfg on the characters name would help a lot. As alimora said. At quest hubs it will help others know your looking to join a group.I know when I played eq it was helpful.
  20. TLoch Developer

With the changes we've made, that would no longer affect lag.

The fix here is to address stats that don't reapply after relogging, not after dying and resurrecting.
