Shaman PotA sets

  1. I recently started taking my shaman through the PotA trials. I noticed that as I complete the T1 trials I am able to select between the Healer and the Caster versions of the pota armor. I was told that later you can select the t2 version of the healer or caster versions of the armor. Why is it that the Rakurr's get the shaft in this area in that they cannot select the melee armor? I have also heard that once you progress to t3 you can no longer select the caster versions of the armor and you are forced to select the healer gear. Le sigh...
  2. Hey Apae! Everything you have heard is correct.

Well I agree fully been playing a Shaman main for around 4.5 years now and IMO its not 1 class anymore, its three different ones. Pretty rough to force everyone down the same tunnel. Currently bear gets really class tailored stuff that suits them, but Wolf/Bird has nothing really tailored to them.

Pota set effects for example... Bear procs an 8 second 100% rune vs melee for whole group. Thats pretty incredible.
Wolf procs -5% global refresh ( does not stack )
    -5% Evasion
You would think wolf would procc some dmg fro group or something but 5% evasion... ok its alright and good but horribly bleak compared to an 8 sec invul vs melee with low cooldown.
As a bear I thought epics seemed awesome, especially as an old pvper I know for a fact how powerfull a bear is with sword and board. Even as a wolf shield is very good for healing & survival( we never reach the same awesomenes as bears do due to missing their self str/con and mitigaiton boosts ) however my dps with a 1 hander is really low, little above bear, with a 2hander its a different story, wolves are centered around flanking and delivering hard hitting criticals. We group heal instantly ( lifeward is not on GCD and thus can be macrod ) itnercession is instant heal. I keep aegis up and spotheal with remedy. the rest of the time im circling dots, Hamstring and putting up force crits for raids while delivering vicious bites. Wolf suffers the same positional limitations as rogue, ergo Vicious bite is actually a downgrade from strike of skamadiz unless you are backstabbing or flanking.
Bird I really dont know. But look at those 2 effects... 8 sec invul vs 5% evasion for 8 seconds.
If pota T4 ever comes I hope Rakuur gets something bit more tailored to us or well I hope they try to see it from a patrons individual perspective. Healing works well across aptrons, that is not the issue. However our gear should reflect our patron as we do have different patrons and skills.

    I agree totally!
I love my Bear to death but my Wolf...poor guy needs some loving. I do not have a bird shaman yet but from speaking to others, I know they are limited also.
I would love to see Bear Shaman being able to wear Heavy Armour...like a Cleric can.
All patrons should be able to customize their sets to heal, dps, defend or a mix of all three depending of stats, the Shaman class is awesome but if we could have the extra freedom of being able to mix and match to suit our patron better it would be a lot better!

Thing is healing part of patrons is fine, skinbuff of patrons are fine, combat skills are fine, patron abilitys are fine, buffs are fine. The shaman class did actually get the luxury of some limited dev attention for awhile, and it was really needed and lifted the class.
However the whole gear issue that was planned to go with it along with some special non-healing stances like tank, melee dps, caster dps( not needed or wanted really ) that prevented healing totally from the shaman but boosted secondary role for tank, melee, caster dps. Imo a crappy idea. We are healers so anything making me unable to heal kills it for me personally. I think we are generally speaking on good grounds as we have a solid skill base, we do however need some gear opened up to us. I'd say disciples fits in to same group as shamans in this question.
Basically Tuurgins should have some spread to atleast use some tank gear just as clerics. Rakuurs should be able to go for some melee dps gear and hayatets for caster gear.
Im not trying to make it easy on myself here, if I was I would like to see a more proper deaggro for wolf or see the endurance regen in our skinbuff working but others really do need hasty skill overlooks more than shamans. Warrior, Rogue and Bloodmage on top of my list. Symbiot gathering is so 2007.... when rangers also had to grind for their arrows :p
Just make shamans eligible for future loots according to our patrons playstyle, let disciples in on it to. There currently is 2 disciple builds out there and 2 very different types of disciples. We can do the rest if you just open up the road for us.
  5. i always viewed the shaman pota armour as the healing set and swapped out for raid pieces as needed for dps.
