Test Server and Client Updated Friday

  1. Has a crash fix that was on Test server only.
    More server performance improvements and metric tracking.

    Those of you that have logged in over the past couple days, please login to Test again and check things out. I'll be monitoring the server stats.

    This update had a lot of changes with some core systems that players don't ever directly interact with. However, please die, rez, and zone alot near boundaries that have 4 corners.
    The character state system was completely rewritten. This has to do with maintaining character states such as root, stun, ect. Please look for changed behavior.
    Stat lookups were optimized also.
  2. Just had a chunk crash in Three Rivers Village, was just killing some trash - spiders, beetles and then chunk crashed - took me to character screen and had to wait for chunk to reset before logging back in.
    Have been chunking around flying around, dying. I attacked Theridon and there was a real delay from my initial key press (attack macro) to actual engage, I noticed the ping meter went yellow red then green and then I started attacking, he then swiftly flattened me into the ground.
  3. - Griffon Necklace diplomacy bug is back, first parley gets auto stopped if you are wearing the griffon necklace.
    - Each time you fight a mob for the first time in a chunk, there is server load, ping goes red then back again as if its having to calculate alot of information, but after this initial kill its perfectly fine.
  4. 1st mob kill there was slight lag bump as the "server first" message popped up , and again when looting the results of skinning harvest. after that , all smooth. no chunking issues thus far.
    Worst ping i got was at corner of SS, IOG, Afrit and that was barely 500ms
    Tested death and rez both in and out of chunk, no issues other than dealing with sleeping chunks. And , could you please not let chunks go back to sleep on test after 5 mins of being out of them!
    sleeping chunks kicked to character select, but stayed in group until we manually kicked.
    stayed in combat even though we were out of combat for a while, chunked to resolve.

  5. CTD 3 times so far. All in Tursh. Only two of us in Tursh and groupmate is not crashing.
    CTD a 4th time.
    Screen flickers like a phone taking a picture, then displays that picture(nothing changes on the screen) for a second, then boom desktop. No error messages are displayed.
  6. Ok, partner just crashed, and left me alone. Each of my crashes were /bug reported, her crash was not. All crashes were standing and not running/walking, so no chasing for the other.
    Also, the quest given from the Otherworldly Gem is not working on test, is fine on live.

    a couple of us cornered our way from Razad to Sands of Sorrow. got 9999ms spike for a fraction of a second
    again, first "discovery" generates a lag spike but any after that dont
    tested combat rez and worked fine, no issues noticed
    Ouch , both of us experienced crash to desktop while just standing in razad. separately (however, i had just windowed out to post here)

    Are the achievments really needed? The website where this was tracked was broken a long time ago. Also the /portrait feature and auto portrait for leveling was also sent to the same old broken site.
    Some have suggested the site link may be causing some of the problems.
    I will continue to use the /bug system until I am told it does not function on test.
    How much station cash will it take to get the level 1-10 abilities back to where they were.

  10. several of us got it, but only on the very first discovery.
  11. Playing a Bloodmage I was getting a lot of server firsts in Tursh. None of the crashes were during this. Possible there is a delayed response from the update that crashes you a few minutes later. Turn off the achievements and watch to see if this continues.
  12. Those of you who were having client crashes, can you tell me the name of your PC's?
  13. Ok, those of you who reported crashing, it was either with receiving a buff or a display alert message. None of this code has changed, so I believe it is with the changes to the memory manager I made.

    if you mean Player Character it was leavwiz and brohn crashing in Razad , while just standing there. I was actually windowed out to make a post, brohn crashed, came back, then I crashed.

    I see a lot of people crashing and horrible lag from discoveries. I am curious why this is still happening. Wasn't VGPlayers done away with? It used to take a screen shot with every discovery and upload them to VGPlayers. Even on live if you take your "first" screenshot my screen will freeze up for 5 seconds or so, each screenshot afterwords and little to no delay.
    I'm probably way in left field here. Just some thoughts reading through the posts. Perhaps "These are not the droids your looking for." Heh
