Any chance AT ALL that the code could be released so that we could do this for ourselves at home? I realize this is a touchy subject, but.. I realize it shows me as a newbie with the new forums and all, but I was in beta and I've been on and off again with Vanguard and I just can't accept that it's being sunset. I would so much prefer that the code was given cleanly and willingly than otherwise. So I ask again, any chance of this?
As of right now we have no intention on releasing the game's code to the public. There are a lot of legal and financial reasons for this but we can't go into details.
I realize this is a big no-no. I was thinking more along the lines of a very controlled bit of code that would only allow us to log into the game SOLO, by ourselves. It would leave no room for people to create servers for other people which would lead to .. well you know. If a controlled piece could be release so we could merely make use of the client we already have installed and use it as a SINGLE-PLAYER Game, that would be amazing! .. Is this not something that could be considered? Surely that doesn't fall under the legal or financial umbrella? =/ Also.. I didn't notice anything on sale except for one mount. Are the price cuts not shown as on sale or something?
I too would really really want to be able to continue to spend time in Telon. Even would it be all by myself (with the game installed locally on my own machine) and even if I would not be able to keep my old characters. Putting my hopes up that you clever folks will find a way to preserve Telon in a more dynamic way than pictures and youtube movies. Telon is meant to be in. Happy anniversary Telon. Edit: And oh, could I help in anyway, don't hesitate to ask. Would it be giving me a huge set of files and instructions on how to assembly them I will do it, or whatever stuff that you can think off. I would think many other persons in the community feel the same. Well I know you probably for various reasons don't want to do that, but just saying.
No other game I know of has or will have diplomacy. Oh my God the thought of that brilliant sphere being rubbed out of existence is crushing my heart.
Game runs on the Unreal 2.0 engine, and requires a royalty payment, so I guess the question is would you be iwlling to pay this monthly royalty to play? Divided amongst the few that would play like this, I doubt any could afford it. This royalty is no trival matter and is completely outisde of SoEs control.
Announcing the sunsetting a week before the anniversary of the game... not very well thought out. I doubt you will find much cheer in game.
