How Do I Start Diplomacy If I am 35th level Adventuring

I have a simple question. I would like to start the diplomacy sphere on my character which is 35th level. So do I just go to some starting zone like Tursh or Martok and start grabbing diplomatic quests? Or can I start in the same area of adventuring, now 35th level, and start diplomatic missions?

If you want to go to your racial starting area, you can start the line there, if your character's racial home is still accessible. Alternatively, you can go to one of the continental starting areas (Tursh, Khal, Tanvu) to start off diplomacy.

One point that I forgot to make; going back to the racial starting city can be more of a challenge for some than others, as the gear from the original cities and the quest line experience is not on par with that on the Isle of Dawn most especially...So it lends itself to a situation in which players find themselves too low level/too little presence to move forward with some of the available quests. Should you find yourself in need of assistance, please do give me a shout and I will see what I can do to help you over that particular challenge.

    All the best...

Go around to several cities and pickup any diplo buffs you can find. There are usually enough up to help get past the "not enough presence" hurdle when you start out. Of course you are looking for direct diplomacy buffs in your scenario.
That is what I did for my guys that didn't start on IoD. I just naturally do that tho anyway for questing/grouping/raiding/crafting/diploing etc. It is a good practice to get into, as a full set of diplo buffs helps quite a bit in whatever you are doing. :)

  5. Also, you can help get extra presence gear if you know a T2+ crafter. Using prestigious baubles, smiths can make handheld items, artificers necklaces and outfitters clothing. Usually a few of those items are enough at low levels to give you the needed starting boost. In addition, crafters can make cards at T2+ using the wordsmith recipes that drop ALL the time from the diplo sphere. (Recipe shows up in the finishing special list for you newer crafters out there). Some of the cards are very powerful. In fact, one of them (the charm option one) makes a card called Guile and Charisma which I think belongs in everyone's deck. It's in the deck of both of my level 50 diplos. Again, you can learn that card at level 1 if you can find someone to make it for you.

Another thing that can help (if you're in a guild that can do APW), is if someone has the belt that drops from the APW Core event that provides random clicky potions which are tradeable. One of them (the black one) gives you a 1 hour buff that's +25 in all presences and can be used at level one.

So there are some additional options if you're a bit light in something to do a quest.

Lastly, the executor questline in NT (starts around ~ level 11) gives some terrific gear for new diplos as well as a recall back to NT that's not connected with any other recall timer. For that reason alone it's worth doing the quest.

Where and from who for example? I don't recall seeing a "buffer" type npc. I'm new so don't punch me please.

When a player engages in diplomacy in a city, their parley wins are turned into buffs that are then applied to any player that enters that city's limits. All you have to do is literally walk/ride into the city. There are great buffs too. Like 5% crit increase or 8% damage increase, etc.

City? Or anywhere that you can parley with an NPC? I only did a little bit of Diplomacy (the starter quests on Zannoran my first character, level 5 Ranger in Tursh) and don't recall noticing any buffs, even after I won the parleys. With Diplomacy being as popular as it is for most people (not me just yet - had some rough times) I would think just about anywhere you go someone is doing Diplomacy so I should see buffs all the time no?

Define "city" in terms of in-game. I'm about to start Diplomacy today on my level 10 Disciple I made last night in Isle of Dawn named Gordi.

City and/or Outpost. New Targonor and Tar Janashir, as examples. I can't say whether or not every place that has available parleys offers buffs. Someone with more xp can clarify that one.

It's not a city. Dahknarg has no buffs. It's some cities and some outposts, like Dragon's Backbone. Tree of Sorrow and a place SW of Tar Janashir have outposts that put up crafting buffs. Can't really remember where the diplo ones are. Essentially, wherever "Civic Diplomacy" is offered, that's what pushes the buffs. Whatever gains, decreases something else, I often see people arguing around Khal about my crafting buffs versus your adventuring buffs. During prime times at least, most of the adventuring buffs are usually up.

I can't recommend strongly enough going back to your 'true' racial city to get started in diplomacy. It is the main way you will learn the history of your people, and your true place in the world. You start with the diplomacy trainer, who will give you quests to do first around your hometown, then later, will send you to Veskal's, Three Rivers, and Bordinar's to continue. From there you will go to New Targonor and make a few trips from NT to the other towns mentioned, and end up with a pretty decent set of diplo clothing. This is different to the Executor questline, and will get you up to about level 15 in diplomacy. I always liked to wait till 15 to do the Executor line, as a couple of those parleys can be tough at lower levels, with a limited number of cards. The IoD has made this 1-15 questline become less well known, but it is very interesting, gives good gear that you combine into better gear near the end of the questline, and a horse mount that you keep and can upgrade, and is filled with lore that can't be had anywhere else! The quests are different in each racial hometown, but in the end, all races send you on the same Veskal's, Bordinar's, Three Rivers, New Targonor journey. Well worth your time!

Almost forgot--when selecting your gear at quest turn-ins, be careful not to select the same piece twice, such as ending up with two boots and no gloves. You will need one of each at the end to upgrade, and it is possible to select the wrong pieces, as I know from experience

One last thing--in doing this questline, I have never had any problem having enough presence if I followed the questline as given and did every quest offered.

yes this is a great quest and yes it starts around level 11... However I would highly suggest that you wait to do this quest until you are lvl 40+. My reason.... the experience for this quest line scales with level. This means at level 11 would will get 2 to 2 1/2 levels of experience OR at lv 41 you will get 2 to 2 1/2 levels.

I can promise you that it will take you longer to get 2 levels at Lv 40 than it will at Lv 11
