Garbled looking font in-game

Discussion in 'General Tech Support Issues' started by ARCHIVED-Keth, Aug 11, 2012.

  1. Seems I had this problem a year ago on my other game system but can't recall if there was a fix.
Text in game on EVERYTHING minus names over heads and avatar status bar are garbled, like someone took a sandblaster to them. Is this a known issue? Any fix?
  2. I vaguely remember this having something to do with screen resolution matching both desktop and in game settings.
I would check to see they are both matching and even try changing the game screen res then switching it back, see if that works.

Keth, Sounds like you are having some UI problems. Perhaps it may be a corrupted font file. Try following the instructions below to see if it fixes your issue:
You may want to make backups and then delete the following files:

    default.ini
    vgclient.ini
    vgclient.dll
    vgclient.exe

These files are located within the bin folder in the Vanguard directory. One or more of those files may be corrupt, causing these issues.

Next, delete the configuration files/folder by following these instructions:
    1. Open the Vanguard Launchpad (do not login at this time)
    2. Click Advance Tools, Open Game Directory, then close the Launchpad
    3. Delete the VGUIAssets folder from the main Vanguard directory
    4. Delete the files explained above located inside the bin folder
    5. Close all open folders and restart Vanguard using the Launchpad to login and play

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

If you continue to have problems, please do not hesitate to submit a support ticket so we can further assist you.
  4. I tried the first response and that did help so the text is less painful to read but it is still garbled.
I'll try the next steps. Thanks for responses!
  5. Are you forcing AA or AF through the display driver? That can cause the sort of issue you're describing.
