Wondering if the warriors bow attack can have it's range increased. The pally I believe can pull from 45 out and the DK pet can pull from as far as the eye can see, but ever since ranged got distance nerfed our pull range was shortened.
All I've noticed is long bow range + ranger crafted arrows with +distance. I'm hitting at 35m right now with low grade arrows (+5) and a long bow. I know the ranger arrows can atleast hit +15, making it 45m.
True, but the Warrior cannot use any of that....This is why after the nerf and not being able to use ranger arrows (unless that has changed) we cannot get any distance.
Hmm weird. I checked ingame last night and it appears I understated some values. The arrows are actually +10 but the bow is actually 20 so I'm hitting at 30 :/ There must be a solution for this really. I think blacksmiths can make basic arrows as well. I didn't know the ranger arrows weren't transferable, can't remember if they had restrictions or not.
ranger arrows give the same distance as vendor bought flight arrows, it is only the top end damage that is higher for them. any changes they make to warbows also impacts rangers, instead of asking for this change you could focus it on your arrow ability that you use to pull. a simple change to make it more like ra'jin flare which has a range of 40m instead of regular max range of 25 or 30 that shurrikins gives would do what you want, give you a pull from 40m.
If they increase Infuiating shot, which is the pull skill with hate added for the warrior to 45m then all would be good, That way it would be on par with the pally's 45m pull.
Seconded. Close enough to ask the mobs to tea, when pulling with the ol' crossbow. If they are high enough in level, I hit aggro range at about the same time I hit crossbow range.
I never understood why they nerfed the bowrange back then. I almost quit because of this ^^ I vote for bringing back the old range. (many guildies teased me as a "Closer ranged ranger" ...)
the nerf reportedly came after certain mobs were killable by rangers outsided of the 40m range so their bow shots were reduced in range. Of course, once that happened, it became a series of nonsense changes as various other ranged weapons were pointed out that now could reach farther than a warbow. At one point, 1m was considered "ranged". In the end, the class distinction of being a precision ranger became more or less a joke. It's a tangled web when you start messing with range attacks, I do not recommend jumping into this one without a ton of research, but I do think that rangers deserve their long range shot back.
Warbows used to have a range of 35m, which made rangers able to hit from 50m. The devs apparently didn't like this (which I can sort of understand), so as was custom at the time, they nerfed it with a jackhammer instead of a chisel. Rangers can still do "okay" with range because of their arrows, but the other classes got shafted, because they get shorter range and can't use the ranger arrows anymore either.
My apologies for resurrecting an older thread. But I would like to clarify a point for myself. The Warrior ability Infuriating Shot, which has a tooltip indicating a range of 5-35, does not in fact work all the way out to 35 because we don't have a bow/arrow combination that extends that far? Thanks
Never mind. I think I answered my concern. I am just starting a warrior and was afraid that my pulling ability would be significantly less than others. But it looks like with a long bow plus flight arrows I can push my max range out to 30 eventually. That seems to be in the ball park for most spells and other ranged attacks that I've seen. The bulk of them seem to be either 25 or 30 range. I can live with that.
Actually, some bows do have a range of 5-20, and flight arrows do give +15, so you can reach out all the way to 35 with the right combo, and it is not just Rangers either. My alt DK has a CW longbow and with flight arrows, pulls from 35 away.
amazing, with just the right bow and the right arrows. a warrior can annoy a target from 30m away, My monk can throw shurikens that far too. must be all that special ninja training. seriously, the war bow nerf made no sense at the time and still doesn't. It was a cheap swipe at rangers using bows from out of aoe range on certain fights and a certain team leader took the nerf bat to bows. its time to let the arrows fly again.
