Hi everyone. I m playing Lesser Giant DK , and currently I m 31 lvl. I m interested about few things, such as; is DK class needed at end game play.? Is DK good at holding aggro among other 2 classes? And as DK will I end up more soloing? Is it worth to continue playing Dk or should I turn to warrior or palladin or some other classes, like bard or Blood mage. Ty ppl for your response. Have fun all.

If you are enjoying your DK and like tanking, there's no reason at all not to stay with it. Yes, DKs are wanted at end game. There's not a mob in-game a DK cannot tank now. As far as aggro goes, there was an imbalance among tanks for a while, but that has been pretty much smoothed out now. DKs are the best solo class among the tanks, but that does not mean you have to solo--it just means you can if you choose to. Each class has its own flavor, and there will always be little advantages of one class over another--that's just part of the fun--but a DK can tank for a group or main tank for a raid just fine. If you are enjoying the class, by all means stick with it!

Yes I do enjoy playing as Dk..it s great class. I m havin problem with gear but not a big problem at all. I get killed sometimes, I kill few mobs sometimes and it goes round and round :) my concern was only about end game infact. Any tips about wich gear or wep should i go for, as i said lvl 31+.

con strength int. that's the setup being at your lvl you should look at hunters league stuff. Also you can look at crafted gear as a supplement. get a 2 handed weapon and stay defensive when you get it, that gives you a block % and 15% mitigration . Only thing I see at end game looking at weapons. Ive seen some one handers that look just as good as 2 handers. I also think there should be more specific DK only weapons through out the game and one mainly for end game.

Nah, HL is level 16-25 stuff. At level 31 you should be starting the Celestine Ward armor at Wardship of the Sleeping Moon. You can do a few quests there, and they will send you to the Ruins of Vol Tuniel chunk straight to the south, to the recondite outpost. The Ruins of Vol Tuniel is also a dungeon in the same chunk. The mobs there are 27-35, 3 and 4-dot mobs, and you can usually find others to group with as it is the standard progression area for your level. It takes a bit of work, but you will end up with a very good full suit of armor that you will wear until level 50 or so. (Swamp armor starts at 45 but you are usually 50 by the time you finish it and replace all your CW armor.) Be sure to do the Forgotten Earring questline there too, as it gives a very good heroic earring, and you get VT faction from all your troglodyte kills while doing it too. The CW weapon quest is available after you get the armor. Some DKs do it and some don't because the only weapon good for a DK is the long bow, but I do it because it is a most excellent legendary (red name) long bow! You will also be visiting the dungeon in the next chunk to the east Thelasseen chunk, and it is called the Lair of the Drakeriders but most people know it as Thelasseen dungeon.

By the time you finish CW armor and weapon, you may be pushing level 38, so it will be possible to go to Graystone dungeon in Beranid Hills for an awesome 2-hand heroic axe from one of the best dungeons in the game. Mobs in this dungeon are 3 and 4 dots, but you are going to start seeing some tough 5-dot mobs here also. There are a lot of good solo quests in Beranid Hills and (a bit later) Plains of Anguish for those times when you don't find a group, but there is usually a few people around wanting to get into Graystone.

When you hit 45 you can start the swamp armor quest line, if you choose to do it. If you do, you definitely want to befriend the Ichtakta (preying mantis people) as Ichy armor is by far the best for tanks. Groups have been a bit harder to get for swamp armor these days, and some people choose to buy Mastercrafted armor (legendary, red name) instead if they can afford it. The best stuff is not real cheap though. If you go that route though, make sure to get it tailored just for tanking, as the stats on it can vary widely. The swamp armor quest line is very fun to me, and in doing it you can also collect some things you will need for the griffon quest, so it's good to go ahead and start the griffon quest at the same time.

You should be level 50 or so by the time you finish swamp armor, and Magi Hold awaits. If you are interested in end-game, you will want to finish most of the Magi Hold questline, as you can then get the quests to kill raid mobs and get some awesome augs for those raid kills. You can also start to raid in APW at level 50 with swamp armor (or mastercrafted). There are a couple of nice DK weapons to be had in APW, especially the 2-hander that sometimes drops from Exalted X-99.

At 52-53, after finishing MH, the new Old Targonor awaits, getting you new armor and level 55, then it's off to the PotA grind. Also, jump into any pug raids you can along the way, as there are a few pieces of really good tank gear available on some of the 'lower' raid mobs like Jagund and Whitewind. Also, try to get some help to kill Voor the Indestructible in PotA every time he is up as he sometimes drops a nice 2-hand weapon (Essence cleave). Physik also drops a nice DK weapon too.

This is the 'classic' path for DKs, although there are variations and other places to try as well. You really can't go wrong with this path as it gives the best full sets of armor available for the level.

Also, stay away from shields and one-hand weapons, no matter how good they look. DKs weild 2-hand weapons, and lose many skills, as well as blocking bonuses when using the wrong type weapon. No matter how good that 1-hander looks, you are handicapping yourself by using it.

That's the right idea, not sure I would pursue CW stuff, there's a bunch of other dungeons that you can just use random drops from. Would try Dargun's Tomb at 32. If you do Bounty Hunter's first quest at Seawatch Coast rift, then a few levels more you can do the ones that are actually in Seawatch Coast for some decent armor. DK is fine for endgame but at that point you do need to be wearing the best you can get your hands on; pre-swamp armor it doesn't matter much. Most damage in Graystone is from disease. My little tank went in with no CW stuff and just finished at 43 (it starts at 38, possibly 37). Typical CW-finishing is around 42 and Graystone 46 these days. Really up to you if you want to put 12 levels of end-game-ness into one faction, just saying it can be ignored with ease and you wouldn't miss it.

Well, I figure I have to level up somewhere, and VT is one of the best dungeons in the game. It would be a shame to skip it, especially now that Warlord Sethrak is spawning again. The fire area is fun but intense too. Just don't stick your head down that hole in the floor in the fire area or you'll be extremely sorry! Thelasseen is also a nice dungeon, even though aggro can be a bit funky--it would still be a shame to skip it. Dargun's Tomb is a nice dungeon too, but for a DK it is almost a waste to do the weapon, as you would probably be replacing it immediately with the Graystone weapon, which is much better.

I have never been one to rely on random drops to gear-out, especially since I'm just not a lucky person--I'll end up with 3 arms, 2 boots, and 2 legs before I will ever see the breastplate I need, and by then will be 10 levels past wearing it! :( I'll end up grinding just as much trying for randoms, and still not be guaranteed of getting them, as I would just to stick it out in VT. Although CW armor is far better than Bounty Hunter for a tank, BH is worth doing for the jewelry--but those quests don't have enough 'meat' to them to be used for leveling.

The dev who changed the repeatable faction mushroom quest in VT most definitely hurt grouping there, although I do still see players LFG or LFM for VT, Thel, and DT on a fairly regular basis, it is still true that since the change in the amount of faction grinding for CW went up, grouping there has declined. Still, I never see anyone LFG or LFM for those Qalian dungeons with the weird names, and there are no Kojan dungeons at this level.

I guess if your objective is to get to end-game as fast as possible, skipping anything that isn't absolutely necessary, there are faster ways to get there, but in that case, the fastest way to get there would be to just skip all gear quests, buy good crafted armor each time you reach the next gear plateau, keep all three types of exp pots running, and grind away without caring about rewards all the way to 50. But that doesn't sound very fun to me. There is a lot of satisfaction and pride from finishing something like CW armor and weapon, and having a full set of matched gear is cool too. But then, each person has to set their own priorities and goals.

It is a good dungeon, sure. I've tried to start Hakrels several times with only moderate success. Thing is *lots* of people are only looking to do CW at that range. I get more replies on Dargun's Tomb but even so will get 2-3 requests for VT during that. Now, I can one-shot DT fairly easily when people will stick to it, and, when done, you probably wouldn't be eligible for Graystone, and either way that weapon won't fall in your hands overnight. If I can do all Graystone including multiple Highlord kills from entry level, I come out at 43 with the nice weapon and armor that works. Others will be going in at 43 with the full matched set of stuff, which, in total, probably is better than what I have. It's just not necessary, neither is HL, even for a tank.

In my experience, ran about 5 toons through Wardship stuff and were done by 37 or 38, that was with many mushroom runs, did not know that got clipped to a one-timer. After those it was less attractive to begin with, and as the whole process went out of balance and I found it wasn't the only religion, have tried to branch off. For a first character, it may be a little more relevant, although I've heard several times from people after finishing, that they replaced it all immediately with common items, which makes sense if you were 40+ at that time. I definitely don't endorse speed leveling and coming into the 50s with nothing good, but that seems to happen a lot too.

So, CW for the 30s is one way, it's a ton of work, doesn't leave opportunity for much else, and takes longer than it should. Whereas, one may hit DT, the Hakrels, Spires Keep, Island of Madness, for greater variety, and the simple fact of multiple leveling paths. And, for someone who's mostly concerned about endgame utility, it's all optional until around level 45, which is not really the endgame encounters but where you really need to push for the best gear, especially on a tank. Even apw trash can hit pretty hard compared to a lot of leveling dungeon bosses.
