[Psionicist] Class/Ability Issues - for review week of 10/26

  1. I would like to request a few more group illusions, esp one that can ride a mount.
    EDIT: o o, and illusions that overwrite other illusions, pesky bards, rogues and necros.
  2. I seem to recall EQ2 had group illusions like that. One of those was a gender illusion that turned your whole group into chicks... that was funny.
  3. Not sure if this has been mentioned, and don't have the time to check, but I would like to see a psi spell that can affect KOS. Maybe have it add 10-15k faction to the target to reflect a psi ability to control targets mind. Maybe an AOE centered on target version at higher levels.
    Maybe another spell as well that can cause a feeling of hopelessness in target, causing them to flee from caster. Maybe an instant or very short cast with a longer cooldown for those oops situations.

  5. I'm seconding Demethir's motion for psionists to equip the Earring of Sacrifice. We are starting to fight over the fish, and psi's should have some portable method to collect some useful mind spies.
  6. I just posted this in Tiraslee's thread on Psi changes, but am cross-posting it here. I thought of it last night while lamenting the loss of our ramp-up ability.
    - Psychic Schism - Allow multiple schisms to be applied... If schism is active on a mob, additional casts would reset the DoT, but stack an additional "explosion" up to a limit instead of cancelling the 1st and they would all fire when the final schism expired. This could add some fun to the ability to stack up some explosions for a bit of "burst" damage later in a fight. Sort of like charging/ramping up the final explosion.

    Rifting around with civics (and sometimes raid buffs depending on fight) is a lag fest, making Mindspies permanent like an activated ability would be much better in my opinion.
    P.S. this is not out of laziness, I used to like collecting them until the novelty wore off and the lag kicked in.
  10. Fix the leashing/single pull mechanism that allows just about anything outdoors to be single pulled.
  11. Bumping this thread to see if maybe they will think about fixing issues with Mindspy abilities (still a lot of things to fix as well as what type you get from the mobs throughout the game).
    Also I believe you could fix what a lot of PSIs want with them (without the hassle of making them permanent) by giving the PSI a bag much like the necro one and giving us unique/no-drop/no-rent items that look like orbs and give the abilties to us. This would allow us to keep from using space(the bag)... and still keep the abilities after death and without the timer problems.
    Just a suggestion and since you're fixing issues in the game thought I would bump this up for the PSIs.
  12. And now that some actual development resources have been assigned to the game, would it be possible to take a look at the Transcendence stance again? It was nerfed into oblivion as a sort of quick fix to an encounter "exploit", and it really deserves a second look now that it would actually be possible to fix said encounter instead.
  13. Bump, there's still a ton of valid issues regarding this class, which are summed up nicely in the original post. My personal primary concern is that our level 50 stance is practically useless these days.
  14. Just an idea, now that the new mana regen items are in game, the psi line of buffs have lost some of their viability, coupled with increases in refresh haste etc.

    Maybe add a global refresh haste component to the meta-mind static group buff?
  15. Found an old bug description for time trick in the orignal post, which was fixed.
    - Time Trick sometimes does not stick. The mob is hit by the invuln/regen component, but not the mez component. Mob continues to attack & do damage but cannot be hit. Usually requires a re-mez, syncronize, and 2nd re-mez to lock it down.

    However this exact same problem exists for the epic mez, "Naratoz' Dimensional Shift", perhaps the current code for time trick could be used for revamping this effect, as time trick works flawlessly as far as i know. (Besides the moving mob getting mezzed and running off screen bug, but that also goes for stuns etc and is a separate issue).

    There is also another issue with this effect. The duration of the spell is 90 seconds, the reuse on the item is 90 seconds. This, coupled with the fact that an after-effect is added to the mob when the spell breaks, it is impossible to completely lock down the mob, as using for instance Time Stop prior to the effect wearing off, the aplication of the after-effect will break Time Stop.
    The combination of these issues really makes the psionicist offhand epic very poor, and useless for most situations.

I really don't have a problem with the off hand epic and have no problem with the after effects.
    I also have no problem with the transcendance stance. While I rarely use it in raids except for a couple encounters where I might want the extra range, I get a lot of use out of it while soloing and think it's far from useless.
    Also, I think the original post is out of date and most of it was either fixed or taken out of game or is something unnecessary (ie: dps boost, use of fish earring, etc). The only two problems I have with the psi class are 1) I wish the weakness and aggression mindspies lasted 2 hours like the defense one does and 2) Our 5 piece PoTA bonus no longer increases the amount of targets Dementia can hit since the changes to fire pummel/aoes were made. However, we still seem to get a damage boost from it, so this is an insignificant problem to me.

    Based on this assumption, the combination of the bug and the long recast time results in the epic mez being a liability, rather than simply working as intended. If the bug sets in, the long reuse time prevents the use of the epic to remez the mob, meaning you now have a lose mob on your hands.

    As for transcendance, as you wrote yourself you rarely use it, that's enough of a reason for it to be changed.
    Stances should be somewhat balanced, and these days they are far from it. Phrenic rage + mummy wraps will provide practially the same when soloing, as the additional damage will also provide additional healing effect.

    Also, the graphics are butt ugly.
  18. oooh I see, so your problem is if it bugs out. That makes sense and I agree that can be a pain when that happens cause we're pretty much out of options after that.
    I don't use transcendence much during raids, but I almost always use it when soloing in MH or other areas with higher level mobs. I've actually had a harder time with the phrenic rage/mummy wraps combo cause I don't think mummy wraps stacks with meta-mind so you're losing 2% spirit link and the extra damage from phrenic rage never seemed to make up for that in my experience. Plus I am lazy and would rather just use transcendance than hunt down mummy wraps before I fly out somewhere :p
    You don't like the graphic?!?! haha I love it! I didn't use to like it either, but it makes psi stand out and I've had some fun using it with big illusions to scare some guildies lol
