I agree with all this, the dev team has handled this very poorly, but we should not forget that the main goal for this patch is not CoW but optimizations.

then perhaps I completely misunderstood this post from Wigin back in September
We are putting some finishing touches on the first couple of bosses and will be needing some help testing it in the next few days. If you are interested please do a /copycharacter.

Also any guilds that can field a full raid and would like to test please send me a PM with the time and day you would be willing to show up and I should be able to change my schedule around to make sure that I am there.

Khal is really slow right now, i'm trying to track what caused it(it was me, i'm certain about that), i'm not 100% positive about this but i may have stumbled on a nasty chunk performance bug, i'll try to reproduce it.

That was the previous patch, not this one. In the previous patch the optimization fixes had not been added, different patch with a different focus... or at least that's what i understand

so here is how I see it. We were being asked to test content. We were later told we couldn't test the content because it couldn't be moved to test. then we were told the code work and optimization was not complete. (this would still lead us to believe that the content portions were ready). Okay, now we have optimization and code testing but apparently the necessary gear, augs, buffs etc to actually test content are also not ready. So, when I asked for a reasonable assessment of when we might see these things, I was just curious how far downstream to be realistically thinking. I am clearly not an expert or clairvoyant, but the current state of progress seems a long way , (am thinking months) before any of this content gets thoroughly tested and then goes live. Just wondering how the team sees it.

And it's that last point that I think most people are on board with this change along with the proposed customization system.

However, it needs to be expanded, class roles need to be redefined or the attribute system needs to be broadened in scope. That's all my opinion of course.

I have always thought VG's version of how bard's work would springboard into a lot of other things in this game like true customization of gear and, eventually, abilities. Your idea for the gear is awesome. It's the implementation that I (and some others are) struggling with ...
  7. Takamoro Member

I'd hate to say I toldja so BUT...

these gear comparisons, implementations, cap discrepancies, augmentation alterations, chucking of secondary stat bonuses, limiting of augmentations, etc? You've woken the beast I said will take you years to sift through. It's quicker to start from the ground up, and that's not to say that it's a fast endeavor at all. Your statements that it will be "easier on the dev team going forward" need to be weighed with lost interest, revenue, and morale from those players who have reached the apex of the existing VG. You're going to uncover the problems of turning niches into cookie cutters, forcing raid class reliance, and revamping old content encounters in order to fit what your new system doles out as "the norm". The long and short of it is: You're going to be at this for years... and you need to weigh that and the problems that manifest through those years with the benefits of "easier on the dev team".

I tried to bring this up when the BBO system was first discussed, and my voice was drowned out by the optimism of the majority of the player base. Perhaps you don't care about the 2% who push the envelope and will consider them casualties of the conversion. If you do wish to retain them, why don't you get together with some of them in a pow wow? Pull a few of the best from each class, and take a look at their statistics. Don't just see what they're capable of doing, but ask them how they use what's at their disposal. See where the balance currently lies or doesn't, and set a theoretical baseline where you expect the top end to be. Discuss that baseline with them. Then move forward implementing with the new concept from the top down all the way to Isle of Dawn. That's pretty much the only way an overhaul can happen without mucking up everything your players have defined as Vanguard.

Remember, you write the world but the players make it. No matter your best intentions, we're going to throw you curve balls and think around areas you haven't thought of. We define the world you create. Use us in order to make sure this doesn't spiral much further out of control.

Even though Takamora makes a good point most of his post means little to nothing in this area.
When it comes to class changes and stat builds for different classes he is far from the one to take advise from for the Disciple class. Although with that said if he ever reaches the skill level he thinks he's at he will be awesome, but he is along way from that. If he is part of the 2% then take the casualties and call it a day.

Can we put the thread back on track with the stat caps and changes.

I read yet again posted by Wig in this thread that everything is back to the network fix that multiple teams are still working on. With that said going out on a limb to say that means CoW isn't even close to release. Not saying that is bad I am saying it gives a lot more time to work on the stat changes.

We need a dev post on the last group of posts and questions minus 1. So we can move forward with the thread.

I would not be a good candidate for the fore-mentioned pow wow anymore than you would be, Chipn. Nowhere did I volunteer, nor did I state I was a currently a member of the 2%. While my gear might be, I've been far too removed from Telon recently and my play style has suffered from it.

if you guys are in a holding pattern with no definite eta, why don't you guys at least start talking about the other aspects of the upcoming changes that are planned instead of just having everyone wait around doing nothing.

sadly the same people that have a sooooo high esltimation of themselves keep bashing each others and there is no way this may help VG in any ways....

I noticed the cost of the sealers was 50 gold. With the 16 pieces currently on test, there are 77 slots that need to be augmented. That will cost 38.5 plat to gear out a character with gear that, except for a couple pieces, is not as good as the stuff we have already. I do hope that is not a final price, that will crush a lot of the desire to do this.

There shouldn't be any gold cost associated with it.. NONE.
  14. Torveld Active Member

I would tend to agree, if there would be any cost at all it should be very cheap, 3-5 gold range imo.
  15. Kayema New Member

Those 50g sealers are to safely remove augs currently in gear to be used in other gear. But these new gear pieces don't take current augs so there is no need to use those.

The augmented sealer and adhesive will be very cheap.

That is good to know. However there has to be some cost. Like many have said 50g is over the top. The 3 - 5 -10 range is better.
  18. Lavyndar Well-Known Member

What about the cost for removing augs from sockets?

Going to be honest, between the cost of riftways and moving augs, this for me is one of the hardest parts to stomach about Vanguard. You can go through several plat just to obtain a new weapon or gear to move augments. As a veteran of VG I tend to help people when they need help a person can go through quite a bit of gold just to help someone. I know I could be farming more to obtain money it isn't that hard to obtain for me. I do feel the pricing is a bit steep, even with gold membership.

    I'm sorry....

I paid over 100 plat for my PoTA gear + Epics. I then paid 50g a pop per socketed enhancement. I also paid 1.5p per Imbued enhancement. I paid 20-75g again, each time I moved enhancements around.

Now you come in, say it is all outdated, and want us to pay for raid armor? Come the *)&%(%# on already.
