Spoiler if not allready apparent: Durring "Diplomat's Saga - Mercenary Hunt" the quest NPC will not parley with you unless you are holding the Royal Straight-Bladed Scimitar which is a Gold member only Item. I'v come to terms with having 2 banks filled with gold quest crap I cannot use, but to be blocked from finishing a quest line is bit harsh!
Just got there myself and stuck in the same spot. Quest lines should not require any gold membership to finish IMO. If they want to limit items, then that is fine, but not at the cost of quests. Gonna do random Diplo conversations until I hear the fate of this.
Low level items shouldn't be gold either imo. Having level <=5 crafting tools and other items that are gold required is stupid. I have seen a few of these while doing IoD.
I believe what happened is that they did an accross the board "Anything equipable yellow and higher rarity is for gold members only." Much too wide a hammer that obviously has unintended consequences. Going to /bug this once I am able to get on again tonight. Thanks for the replies.
Has anyone received any responses about this? I am F2P as well, just starting a few weeks ago. I love diplomacy for the lore of the game. I would love to be able to finish these quests. I believe this is a level 18 diplomacy quest so it would still technically fall under the level 20 f2p threshold. I understand the motive to bring in revenues from unlocking items, but I am merely interested in following the story line for a level 18 quest-not acquiring amazing gear or anything.
i had this issue otehr day also. i petitioned, and the GM mailed me a potion of unlocking so that i could equip it. hope that helps!
