Mob Furious Question(s)

Discussion in 'Protective Fighters' started by TheresaScorned, Mar 28, 2013.

  1. Hey tanks =)

My warrior is level 48 and I've been grouping in NN / RI etc etc and it seems like some or most - its kinda random- mobs that are level 50 go furious at 20%.

Anyways, I've tried to use a couple of the skills that either block all attacks for 15 seconds or just reduce dmg for a set time but I cant tell if they work or not. I'm tanking so not really looking at my HP's.

My question is: Do these skills do anything when mobs go furious or should I just save them for other uses?

    Thanks,
    Theresa

Furious is an auto riposte to melee/ranged , so unless your dps is big and you can kill it quick then dont hit it and wait till it drops.

  3. Fazz, thank you for the info! I didn't know it was me that was killing myself! hehe. I really thought it was a sort of super buff where the mobs do uber dmg.

So, just stop melee and ranged attacks. Great to know thanks!

One more question that just came to mind, I have some gear and a self buff (hold the line) that adds to my Rage (I think that's what its called) mitigation. Is this the same thing as Furious dmg or something else completely?

    Thanks again.

Any mob lvl 50+ can go furious below 20%.

As fazz said it's an auto riposte for every time you hit the mob. And invulns and other damage reducers don't work. At least not from my experience.

    Rage =/ Furious

Rage and Flurry mitigation will come into play mainly against raid mobs and some of the harder 55 group content. Furious, as stated, is something most 50+ mobs will do around 20%, that returns damage to melee and ranged attackers. Spell casters do not receive return damage, but furious also makes the mob spell immune for its duration. As a tank, technically you can probably take a few furious shots before you die, but unless the mob is about to die anyway, it's better just to wait.

furious is part of the silius legacy where a few encounters got furious added as a feature below 20%. As it turned out, furious got added to every trash mob in telon so that we could all experience a 5 to 10 second stand around and stare period during each fight. (this is different from the lagged out stand and stare period). It is a riposte, but amusingly still smacks rangers at 25 m away if they range attack. Sorcs, however, can continue to cast fire based spells and dots for damage.

Yeah, backing off is the only way to truly avoid furious for melee and (screwily) for ranged weapons. I have a macro that trips Foeman, which automatically stops auto attack, with a pet backoff command, so as to keep Ol' Toothstealer alive through furious too.

be a real tank and plow furious! if your healers know whats good for them, they'll spam heal you :)

Depending on the mob.. place HoT on self, hit concordant line, blessed whirl, dps through furious... as I said, depends on the mob and dont go into it at 50% health... lol

Yeah, I died when MT on Varking more than once when a disc plowed furious. Hard to heal when you are dead.

One might say that Karii is an expert on plowing Furious.
