My armor smith, Graquill, although a lvl.29 is missing his iron armor upgrade recipe. Is this a quest? He's a very old character (2010) and my newer weapon smith, Haffni, has his iron weapon upgrade recipe. Fuzzy memories keep niggling me and whispering something about sigils. If its a quest NPC for armor smiths, any inputs welcomed as to his/her location.

upgrade recipes are acquired using sigils (which you can get as rewards from doing batches). At one time they were also drops so occasionally one appears on the broker . you can also get sigils from fishing (go figure) but doing batches is the main way.

Thanks for the input. Does the recipe show show on any Armor smith trainer? Or does one need to look for the particular tier-oriented trainer? Graq is a gnome, so am I steering for the apprentice trainer in Aghram?

You need to obtain the upgrade recipes from a Masterwork Crafter. There is one in Ahgram, Tawar Galan and NT I believe.

Yep, met Chance Alexander in Aghram. His dialog mentions ancient platinum coins as well as sigils. Can one be exchanged for another? There is a page on the wiki mentioning this, but no details as to who or where. Is Chance willing to trade ancient coins for sigils? Or vice-versa?

In any case, after running 5 batches of white/yellow work orders at the Jharru Flats camp, I didn't receive any sigils with rewards of 5 yellow and one blue supply pouch. This leaves me thinking they drop very rarely and many old threads from 2008 timeframe reinforce this notion.

I did receive a level 30 blue apron that is upgradable, so that now leaves me wondering about upgrading crafting clothes and tools. So many details, so little time. Oh, <DING> Level 30 Blacksmith, so on we go.......

yes, sigils are a rare drop from the satchels, especially at the lower levels. Later on you will seem to have more than you need. If it is a silver sigil, it takes more than one for the upgrade recipe. Only 1 gold sigil is needed for a recipe. Because you will eventually have more sigils than you need, the vendor will trade you ancient plat coins for them . These are used to buy racial gear (if you have aligned with a city) you can also use them for racial mounts and some potions. Graz on level!
