I'm interested in doing a series of Youtube videos supporting players returning to Vanguard. From the time I started playing the game way back in the beta the role-playing community was a consistent backbone of the playerbase. When the game went live some friends of mine and myself created our characters on Florendyl despite the fact that we were not role-players outselves. This was due to the fact that, for the most part, RP servers have a helpful and non-obstructive community. While, as I said, typically I do not rp in mmo's, that doesn't mean I haven't done so outside of them. For the past twenty years I have either ran or owned comic / gaming shops the last time being a assistant manager of Atomic Comics in Chandler, AZ. What I'd like to do is collaborate with some of the rp players on a event in the coming weeks. I'd like to record this event, in as many parts as needed, and put it on Youtube to promote mmo rp players that may not be aware of Vanguards unique potential as a empty canvas for unlimited role-playing potential in the mmo genre. If anybody is interested I have some ideas on an event that even synchs with the current starter zone changes. PM me on these boards so we can arrange a talk in game if interested. This won't be something that happens immediately, I believe in doing a bit of planning to make sure things are fun for those involved first and foremost. There is a voice chat program that is free and can hold hundreds of people at a time in moderated chat rooms, most likely I'd be wanting to use that for direction and set-up. As a guild leader of a RP guild that moved here from EQ and started originally on Florendyl, I can certainly appreciate your comments about the community that we have. I am presently working towards gaining a bank of upkeep for my hall so that while I spend the time setting it back up and redecorating it, the Red Dragon Inn will not be in jeapordy. Once the hall is reestablished, The Preferiti will start the planning for another server event to be held in our home. That said, although my time is pretty restricted right now, I would like to offer my assistance in any way that I am able. I'm also interested in contributing to this. Having recently returned to the game, I've always enjoyed the lore as much the dungeon crawls. I'll be levelling up a new character, or two, because Vanguard is about the journey more than the destination, but I'd be more than happy to contribute to RP events in any way possible. I'm currently playing Warfarin, Goblin Blood Mage.
You know I have your back Glyne. I want to bring RPing back to Vanguard as well, was a better community "Florendy" as a whole (wasn't just about the next piece of purple loot) and the social was more helpful in my opinion. Count me in on contributing to this, also, as I have RPed in every game I have played. You may want to think about scripted RP as well if your making youtube videos, seems to draw more attention and positive feed back on comments.
I came from Florendyl too and would love to see someone/some group breathe life back into the RP community! I recently came back to find basically no RP community left, or what is left is tattered and probably only done in the privacy of guild halls and their respective chats. If any events are planned, I would love to know! I'll definitely do my best to make time for them ^.^
