So I came across the Wednesday May 9th Game update summary, it says: Bard Fixed an issue where the Bard ability line Razor Parts Silk was not dealing damage correctly Bard song component related to runspeed have been buffed but are no longer modified by drums So, i've been planning on getting a new drum but I see that drums do nothing for runspeed anymore? So now I have nothing to look forward to when getting a drum??.....
yup bard drums are close to 100% useless. all they do now is modify resistance buffs, which in reality nobody ever uses. they did boost the speed increase of the song components a bit when they killed drums. you can get a bit of an increase to your speed by using your best lute to boost your vit a smidge. as for the razor parts silk fix, the lowest tier of it was actually hitting mobs with a heal over time instead of a damage over time effect.
Man, I was running around with my drum on--How ignorant.. So, now I can forget about camping for my drums.. So, does that mean bards are not the fastest wheels anymore? Just buy a SC mount?
Bards are still quite fast. Especially indoors. My guess is a 200 fly speed mount + tack + horseshoes is equivalent to bard at ~250 speed, but those mounts can only be used outside. A bard can still get you out of dodge if you are underground or in a building. Of course, the bard can't go 'up' or 'over'. Bard song also stacks with the speed buffs from rangers/druids/shaman, so you can get 280 or so speed or so. You'd need a pegacorn or a nightmare to beat that speed.
bards are still fast and the only people (without bard song) who can beat the bard are woodelves using their racial, disciples and psion's. granted they have to blow a temporary buff to do it, but they can get as fast or faster than a bard song if buffed. as for flying... well with only self buffs bards are one of the slowest flyers around with sorcs and disciples flying circles around us. but it is okay, everybody still luvs us the most.
