Graphics issue any ideas?

  1. Just reinstalled the game.. I never really gave it a chance when it came out....

I log in, and go to the character creation screen, and the onloy thing that shows are the clouds, flames, and hair for whatever race I choose. I created a few characters in different zones and they all seem to do the same thing.. the clouds and sky extends below the grass, there is no ground at all, and all the characters are missing- names are clearly visible.

I've messed with all my graphics settings and nothing changes. Anyone run into this issue?
  2. Actually it shows the pillars in the character creation screen for all of half a second, then they disappear.... pretty frustrating...
  3. have you tried deleting your vg/bin folder and letting the launcher reinstall the files?
  4. "have you tried deleting your vg/bin folder and letting the launcher reinstall the files?"
^ This. Under your main Vanguard folder, there should be a folder labeled [bin] which contains a [cache] folder. You basically delete the entire folder, then when you relaunch the game, the launch pad window automatically downloads a new/clean [bin][cache] folder and starts fresh. This automatic download process takes about 3 extra seconds @ launch.
I've had to do this on numerous occassions becuase of bad crashes (all of which were self inflicted by letting my laptop battery die mid play session). When I would restart the machine, the bin cache folder was full of crap that would either cause insane graphical anomalies or I would crash to desktop while trying to launch the game.
If that doesn't work, I'd try to reinstall again. Best of luck.
  5. In addition to everything mentioned above, check your AA settings at the videocard driver level. The symptoms you're desribing go hand in hand with trying to force AA. Especially since it started happening to you after the most recent patch, as Zpass was forced on for all render levels and a configuration that allowed forced AA earlier no longer does. If AA is on, set it to either "Off" or "Application Controlled." That should get you sorted.
There's another thread right here in general named ATI card issue. It describes this in greater detail.
  6. as the above poster said.. go to your ati or nvidea panel on desktop and make sure every option is at "let application decide". if you set it to override application settings and fiddle with AA settings, you get this.
  7. Thanks guys, I changed by AA settings to by application, and it works! Much appreciated!
