Since the IWG encounter has worked fine for a LONG time now, why does it need to be altered? We killed him this past week as always and the added lag was not more on this encounter than how much more it was on other encounters. The new found lag exists independently and lag is far worse in many others encounters, such as SlimJim (although Core in APW was ridiculous this evening). Moving him to a new chunk without an existing mob like idk say Teraxes is a great idea. Changing the encounter itself is neither necessary nor worthwhile, and from past experiences is far more likely to cause further frustrations more than "fix" a mob that already works fine. Please fix the server crashes (newest) and lag that started recently; leave the working encounter(s) alone.

We ran IWG in a zone with no other encounters and the lag was the same for the reason expected. IWG does some things that no other raid encounter does and it is a problem. His lag issue is specific to him. The other lag issues I need to see when they are happening to evaluate what is wrong. IWG is far from a working encounter when he hits 30% and he will be changed since moving him did not resolve the problem.

I will make a note to be there.

I did not gather anything because before 30% there was pretty much no lag for the IWG fights. This is why I want to see some other fights like spark, shen, and karax.

Thank you for coming out. Was fun giving it a shot, and got a couple of good screenshots too!
Yes, the lag on IWG at 30% is different from what we have been seeing in other fights for sure. The ping-spike lag seems to happen over and over for long time periods, but it may only last for 1-3 seconds, then go a while before another one comes. At times though, it can last for more than 3 seconds up to (rarely) ten seconds, but most are of the shorter variety.
Shendu would be a good fight to see this, as it is a longer fight. We should be doing Shendu on Tuesday night, 5:30 p.m. PST or shortly after. Come on out!

The chunk you moved him to contains the raid encounter Arch Magus Teraxes. We were fighting him for part of the time Core was doing IWG. I am not saying that the end phase of IWG isn't a problem just pointing out that it wasn't exactly in a chunk with no other encounters.

We had done an attempt before you guys had started fighting Teraxes.
  8. Question about lag on sparkles, does it spike at a certain points in the fight like IWG does?
  9. Sparkles spikes occur during a burn phase and mass aoe-ing of adds, but is nothing compared to IWG 30%, or Sil'mr-Li the whole fight.
I think you are looking into lag being generated from certain raid encounters themselves, even though most of these (with a few exceptions) have been working with no problems prior to this new introduced lag. The game breaking / frustrating lag we are currently experiencing has nothing to do with raid encounters, buffs, or clickies. It was introduced after a maintanence patch.

Sparkles mostly throughout the fight (2-4 seconds) . But we've had some bad wipes at the 0%-1% mark during the burn phase where we have lost 10+ seconds of the fight.
Exile raids War Golem and Sparkles every Sunday. Shendu and Karax on Mondays (depending on attendance). The order changes if spider is up. Raid begins at 6 PM Pacific Time.
  11. unleashed has shendu/zodafin on schedule for tonight at 5pm pdt depending on attendance for kill order
  12. Just to prevent a mix up:
Sparkles does not come with unique lag spike issues. The lag spikes are the regular result of adds, burn phase or mass deaths if his AoE lands. Imo you will not experience more or less lag than vs most other targets with somewhat similar phases.
IWG is different. He is the only raidtarget I can think of with an immense characteristic and unique lag issue at a specific point, obviously triggered by his buff strips and decreased the more buffs fade.
  13. Based upon my experience, the very presence of my guild to get setup for IWG (not even a single spell cast) caused enough lag for a wipe to another guild that was on Sparkles and they were still in the non burn phase.
But also based upon my experience we killed Teraxes yesterday with zero lag while another guild was attempting IWG in the same island. 1 death in the entire raid. 50+ people in chunk. There also have been days where we've had less than 3 groups full of people and we have had horrible lag on Teraxes with us being the only guild in the island.
Each scenario is just pretty unique imo. From observing yesterday, Silius was doing a few different test scenarios on IWG with CORE - i.e. with/without buffs etc. The more raids you show up for more data you get. Personally for me Karax has been the worst fight as far as lag goes.
  14. In general, I've found that I will get a 2 - 4 second lockup (ping spikes, sometimes to ~3k, sometimes to 9999, and FPS drops to 0 or 1, despite all performance metrics I can measure client-side showing CPU and GPU load both below 60% and disk I/O - bearing in mind I'm running it off an SSD - below 30%) with a playable pause in between of anywhere from 10 - 40 seconds. This is fairly consistent across most but not all encounters that I have tried recently. As I believe I've stated previously, I do *not* encounter this to anywhere near the same extent if I am simply standing next to the raid observing, but not actively participating (i.e. I'm out of raid group, but right there with them).
  15. We are looking at it and may have something for testing soon. Keep an eye out on test.

I have been killing IWG for as long as anyone else in game. The lag associated with 30% used to be minor and again, is historically far less than many other encounters currently in game, for example Slim Jim. This minor lag hiccup at 30% has (almost) never been an issue in killing IWG for well over a year....so the fact that you say it is NOW a problem is confusing as it seems irrelevant to fixing current issues of lag that appear in many encounters that used to work without much lag. Why do you now bring this up as if it's a concern?
Many guilds and even many pick up groups have in the past, killed him regularly. Again, as someone who has been killing him since disco, there has never been a significant problem with the IWG encounter and lag was never a large concern with this fight until recently, when ALL encounters got more laggy. If it worked fine at one time recently, the issue isn't with the encounter....obviously......

Just to be clear, I will name some other encounters with lag at specific points and unique lag issues:
Slim Jim - lag spikes at spawning of initial adds, spawning of Slim and through the final phase for aoe's
Varking - Starting his aoe phase sub 20%
Shendu - 25% spawning of Shendu if Wyrm form and starting of final phase with Wyrms
Karax - 30% switchover, especially if anyone dies from aoe
IWG - 30% strip buff start
To claim that only IWG has any lag due to the encounter changes is ludicrous, especially when claiming that lag when spawning adds in sparkles should not count. The lag from the IWG 30% phase down is historically no worse than most or any of these timings with other encounters. Fix the #$%#$% new lag and leave the encounters that have always been working alone.
  18. shendu raid tonight had potential of succes however, inopportune lag spiking denied heals and down went tanks. as usual the imapct was iin the final 25% as stated above. earlier spikes and loss of life is something that can be overcome within the encounter, but after 25% point it is raid death.
also, the "cant rez unless in same chunk" is an issue, especially since rezzing a released tombstone from someone in chunk can reset the encounter.
  19. Also other spots during the shendu fight tonight (and thank you Aradune for attending)
    • consistent 3-4 second spikes during wurms & rats, 5-6 second spikes during the large spawn of rats
    • semi consistent 3-4 second spikes during Statues
    • ooze (dont know im not near raid at that time)
    • 5-10 second spikes during wurms/drakes (after 25%)
