Banned in absentia?

    Hi,

    I used to play Vanguard in the beta and then for the first few months after release, but stopped after the mass firing of the original staff - seemed too much of a despicable move to justify giving them any more money. At that time, to the best of my knowledge, my account was in good standing.

    Flash forward to the present day, and since I've got a day free and the game's now free, I thought I'd dive back in for a bit to explore with my girlfriend. From what old information I can find from the free to play conversion, using an account which bought the game has a few privileges over starting a new account, so I tried to log in with my old details.

    Oddly, it said I was banned. I'm not quite sure how or why this could happen when my account wasn't even active. I tried to access support and make a ticket, but Firefox just keeps getting an error: "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.". So I tried my back up browser, and got a different message that they don't support Opera for some bizarre reason, followed by redirects to a bunch of removed pages.

    So, umm, what's going on?

    Maybe try Google Chrome?

    if your account was from the pre-soe hack problem, you cannot log in without changing your password and updating your original account info. the "banned" message doesn't really mean you were banned. If you are unable to log in to generate a ticket (the catch 22) there is a phone number for customer support in the soe.com website. good luck!

    Thanks, but I try to avoid Chrome and IE. Though I did also try Safari (on a separate machine): "Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occurred." - if three of the big five browsers failed, I rather think the flaw lies with the site.

    Thank you, but alas, no success there. Whilst in account info I did also notice I'm banned from Planetside, Everquest 2 and Everquest (which I don't think I've ever actually played), but oddly not Planetside 2 - the only one of the games I've played in recent years.

    Sadly, this appears to be an American number, and as I don't have my own phone (long story, I'm in financial limbo), I'd not want to run up someone else's bill.

    Alternatively you could start a new account and /petition on it. I'm pretty sure the F2P people said they can still petition.

    Unfortunately that's the address that's causing a redirect loop for me, but the petition idea sounds like it's worth a shot. Many thanks!

    No luck I'm afraid - /petition just brings up the same broken page in the in-game browser, with "Error: too many redirects", but thanks all the same.

    The only other suggestion I can make, if they don't reply here, is to complain on twitter. Sometimes that gets you in touch with someone that can help.

    I suggest you use the SOE post tracker at the top of the forum to find a member of the support staff and send them a PM.
