High end tanking needs

It may not be true, but when a novice like me comes rolling in and each time it's insisted--do not push his stance--you do as told, and when you hear in some semi-legendary way that only certain people have ever done it, that leaves an impression.

With Teraxes, not so much the one-shot but the ongoing fire damage suggests resist might be better. Pretty sure I could use invuln against the big one, chances are it would be passed more to a paladin who apparently has more to work with. Ten minutes for aphotic shield to come around isn't real handy. Sorry for my sometimes scrambled thoughts when I try to remember something from a month ago and at first I couldn't remember that I didn't use my tank on that one. My total player experience is limited to non-issue farmed stuff and those two failed encounters which is why I'm trying to figure out both gear-target progression and techniques.

Teraxes is a fight that is unforgiving if you don't have the gear to live through his basic abilities, but once you pass that threshold, which is pretty low for a tank, it's much more about paying attention and reacting than anything. For a tank specifically, you should have a much easier time living on Teraxes than most, provided you don't eat his death touch.

As for tanking Masuke in offensive, a lot of the experienced tanks on here will make light of it, but if you're still not geared out you shouldn't. It's easy enough for a fully geared tank to do it if he has good healing, but he does like to flurry. I just like to do it because it makes the fight so much faster.

Sure, I wouldn't tempt Masuke's offensive at all, and if someone who probably could do it chooses to go the safe, reliable route...no reason to argue with that. When having a group of people that mostly do need to farm out the gear, it's more reasonable to say "This is our first Teraxes attempt and we're probably gonna get cooked" than to add risk into something you know you can do and then clip furious or something. I don't mind wiping to learn from the experience...when it happens on things you should be able to do, different story. Fortunately that's pretty rare =)

Well a couple months went by, and I still use absolutely nothing from PotA but have gotten more health and dps from raiding, still not at the top end but trudging along. Teraxes doesn't really hit very hard, but, if you don't have PotA stuffs, I would have to say that MH resistance gear may be useful in specific situations like Phyzik who hits for mostly arcane and moderately hard. Just the ring and prismatic armor seemed to make a difference.
