To be honest i dont care if they change the whole system. I just want to make sure that new content is worth doing, that is why i asked if gear will be able to compare. I dont sink many hours into this game (anymore). Did i use to sure and most people here know me. That dosnet mean you like me but hell i prob dont like you. Anyways the point im geting at is there is no point in doing content if you acnt get a pretty new shinny out of it. So im not gonna casy any stones yet at the devs. im gonna play the wait and see game. But i will add in if you do away with old augs and the years of grinding people have done in one swope you will prob see a big drop in subs or players all together. Oh and sorry about all the type-o s my son spilled a drink in my keyboard or on i should say and now the backspace key dosent work and i havent bought a new one yet so just deal with it ) laterz

If you want something different then you should probably just pick another game to play instead of rooting for the baseline changes proposed by the devs. Making this game similar to others on the market will simply hammer the nail in the coffin. Once the BBO, cap removal, and the new proposed gear all gets put into the game I don't think it's going to be worth playing anymore :(

Well, maybe I just don't understand, or maybe you don't--I just can't say for sure. I would ask you this though--and it is a serious question asked in all honesty: How will the changes the devs have proposed make Vanguard more like other games on the market? I have read, as far as I know, all the threads about these changes here on the forums, but I do not see how these changes alone would make VG more like WoW for example.

What will the BBO system do that upsets people? Will it reduce player power, or make players even more powerful? As I understand it, it may add a bit of power to single groups but change raid power not at all. While I certainly do not think players need more power, is it really game-breaking?

Removing stat caps is dangerous for sure, but unless we get a level increase, how else will we progress our characters when so many are already way over-cap on every stat (except for the one stat that has no cap--which I'm sure is nothing but a mistake anyway). And if caps are removed, doesn't something have to be done to limit player power? I mean, tanks with 100% mitigation? That is what caps are for, but caps are not the only way of limiting things.

As far as the new gear goes, we have not yet seen everything connected to that, so we are drawing conclusions based on incomplete information. However, the complaints I have see so far are based on the gear not being "better" than what we have now, but if caps are removed, won't there need to be some way of limiting player power? I know I am not the only person posting in this thread that has made posts in the past about player power getting out of hand--so if player power is curtailed a bit, why would that make VG "not worth playing" anymore?

Yes, I do want something different. I want a reason to log-in and something fun to do when I get there. Grinding insane hours for another aug that will add 25 hit points (WooHoo) to my tank is not fun, and will not intice me to log-in at all. For me, an entirely new gear system coming from a dungeon like APW would--as OT proved. Even a new dungeon and gear set for my alts was enough to give me some hope, and log-in, work to get groups together, etc. Yes, they "screwed the pooch" on that one, but maybe they will get it right this time. I guess I just prefer "the devil I don't know" over "the devil I do know."

I just don't see everything staying the same as a possible solution. If you do, please explain how. What would you change to make continued progression possible? What are your ideas? And please expand on your thoughts of how these changes are making VG like "all those other games out there."

I don't necessarily think the proposed changes are making it more like other games. They are simply changing it to a game I wouldn't want to play.

My beef with BBO is player power. Raidwise it may stay the same. Groupwise its an increase in power which is not warranted IMO.

The solution to stat caps is a level increase. Changing the core stats of a 6 year old game and re-writing a completely new gear scheme is not how you "fix" that problem. You increase the max level. Paired with maybe a tweak to how stats are calculated so its harder to reach those caps. To me, there is no other way around it.

We haven't seen the new "Defiance" or "Special" augs yet, but from my understanding CoW was progression. They showed us some hacked up gear with a bizillion slots and told us to wait to see the cool augs. These cool augs are gonna make everything peachy. We've been waiting for new progression routes for ages. All we've been given are sidegrades and minor situational upgrades. If you are going to show us new "progression" gear then don't show me a downgrade and make me wait to the goods. We've been waiting for years.

I don't want something different. I want something more. Different to me means changing the game (ala all the proposed stuff). Give me more content. More challenge. More grinds* (I know you hate grinds). More reasons to log on to the game rather then to start this same changed game again.

Finish your performance updates then give us a True Expansion. That solves the problem.

Unless you can clone Wigin, Queck and TLoch that's not possible... I would love to see a lvl increase but there are not enough developers to raise the lvl cap. A lvl cap increase has to be accompanied by a huge amount of content, raid areas, grouping areas… only an expansion could provide that but Vanguard’s player base is too small for an expansion.

Basic VG veteran player logic= "We're bored, give us something new to do. Make it more than just another overland raid mob. We are tired of grinding the same content. Most of our guild has quit because there is nothing new to do."

Dev response= "Here is a preview of the new content we have been working on. This will be unlike anything you have done in game before. It's a full fledged raid dungeon."

VG veteran player response= "Hey! Whoa! What is this? This isn't like farming augs and faction in KDQ!! What about all my gear I've been wearing for the past 5 years? Are you going to ask me to replace it with new gear? I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with this new so called "system". Is it going to be a huge grind like KDQ? Is it going to be enough of a grind? What about all the augments I farmed over the last 3-4 years? Why are you making new stuff? I want something new to keep me busy, but I don't know if I can handle this. Why can't I just be in charge of making all the itemization changes?"

I know. I know. I just don't get it. I haven't done all of the wonderful things that all of the amazing vets posting on this topic have done. So I have no right to express my opinion. Either way. You all are so quick to whine and complain about something that hasn't even hit the test server yet. This is what everyone has been waiting on for years. I hope that pota gear and most of the augs in game now get replaced. The way you get them currently is one of the worst gear implementations in any game I've played.

This is why its the nail in the coffin. The solution to the problem is unattainable. When they pushed the game for F2P they shouldn't have wasted all that time re-itemizing and re-vamping lower levels. More re-vamps after F2P went live. But I have the power of Hindsight.

I'll stick around for awhile, but once CoW part 1, 2, 3, 4? (Redname stated we'll be wearing our old gear for awhile) comes out and i'm still wearing my old gear. Progression in VG will be solidified as a myth and there will be no reason for me to log on.

From what I read about augment uniqueness, it seems its still the same way as EQ1 and other games, you can only have 1 of any kind for most augment slots. To call it unique is just a smokescreen to cover for the itemization stacking issue bug, the same thing that still plagues the duplicate gear/jewelry stacking issues that never got fixed. I suppose its easier to make excuses for this than to address it, besides having 3 40 CON augs would be overpowering than a 20/30/40 set inserted. Which means 20/20/20 set is not possible either when you fist start farming augs, is does mean you are stuck with only able to use 1 aug until you can change the ones you have saved in your bag.

I really hated how EQ1 designed and determined aug usage.

Two things to mention. Not sure if you have already factored these in for the new itemization as you will need to grandfather these in some fashion.

    (1) Blood mages have one of their epics in their gloves. (Ahnrai brought this up in a thread in the general discussion section)
    (2) Bard gloves have string mod in them.
