Bird shaman and PoTA

I have had PoTA access for my bird shaman alt for a long time. So far it has been used mainly for buffing because we have had enough main healers available. Now I started getting it through trials just for fun and got a problem:

Game offers me two choices for gear. One is light caster healer version (probably the same BMs get) and second medium melee version which other shaman variants use. I am not sure which one I should get as I can clearly select only one set. Caster version is tempting for its int, but it seems to have slightly less hp and it sacrifices mitigation.

    What should I do?

I'd go with the medium gear no matter what patron. Use your remaining gear slots and attachmants for speccing.

Actually I have been thinking of doing that. I think that at 55 dps is not really what matters for healer (excluding BM), but instead ability to stay alive and medium helps in that. Still it is shame that SOE has always neglected to give proper gear for bird shamans.

    Thanks for advice.

Couple of points here: Firstly, bears suck. Secondly, Apaelias (edited to avoid moderation) ...until the handle falls off!

Back on topic: Note that there are only 2 tiers of PotA Shaman Caster gear and 3 tiers of Shaman Healer Gear - essentially if you want to fully upgrade your gear to it's full potential you will have to go with the healer gear.

Furthermore, DPS as a Hayatet is close to non-existant. If you can keep a sorc alive at the start of a 5 minute fight rather than dead, that will probably outweigh any dps gain of you going full dps mode start to finish.

Lastly, as a fully specced healing Shaman you can cap Spell Damage Focus (SDF) and get a pretty good whack of Spell Damage Rating (SDR) and Spell Crit Rating (SCR). Vitality is a much more useful stat to you than Intelligence. Put it this way, i was the one who argued for the introduction of the PotA caster set for Hayatets, yet i'd never ever consider choosing that over the healing set.
