  1. This ship sailed long ago and was not listened to nor will it ever.

VG is about the journey from 1-50 and is the best part of the game but the Devs changed the exp rate when they removed all the abilities, so that is why it appears as if you are leveling faster.
Myself and others would like the abilities given back and the exp tweaked to an appropriate level, taking away the fun of learning new abilities, actually making it boring mash the same button fest and bumping exp up is not what VG is about, it's very lazy and a killjoy to a lot of the new players I have encountered, even Vets are shaking their heads at how stupid and unnecessary this change was.
Knowing SOE, it is very unlikely they will ever change it now which is a shame, more changes like this will kill the game they are working hard to save...counter productive if you ask me and a big waste of Dev time to make something "less fun" than it was in it's original form.

A lot of things have sailed man but the more people speak up against it the more chance of it happening...
Does this mean you re-subbed? :p

Heck no. Cancelled all 5 accounts. Will not resub until the raid lag is resolved and the raid encounters are no longer bugged to all heck.
  5. Thanks for the reply Kilsin, I see what you mean now.
I do want everyone to know this game has made us very happy to be here, it's the best! Our only hope going forward is to be as much a part of the community as everyone else here is.
We are going along slowly doing crafting and diplo at the same pace as our adventuring.
Oh! BTW, we made it to our "home" starting area by using rent-a-giffins, but we found the starting quest rewards to be disappointing next to what we recieved from the new quests on IOD & the other three new starting areas. Did folks start with no gear 'once upon a time'?
We re-rolled on IOD and will go to our racial continent at level ten.
    Thanks again...

When IoD was added it had beefed up gear and quest rewards to try and entice everyone to start there, keeping the new players all in one chunk to give the impression the game was thriving but in doing so, the old racial starting areas that most of us love, we left abandoned and unloved.
The gear from the original racial areas falls way short of the IoD gear but wasn't game breaking, it was just a convenience to start on the IoD to grab the lucky charm and crafting/diplo gear to have an easier time in the world of Telon.
We begged for them to revamp the racial starting areas but instead, they picked 3-4 and ruined Lore and changed the level of some racial starting areas, making it tough to return.
These days IoD is still the best place to start gear-wise due to being able to get crafting and diplo gear too, the Devs failed to add those spheres tot he mainland, so if you start in Tursh, Tanvu etc you can only get Adventuring gear and the charm.

    Silius,
The fact your watching is great, the fact you care why people stop playing is great. However I do not agree that if they stop at level 6, then level is must be wrong. You have to actually find out why they quit, did a new expansion for a crappy but well liked game get released? Did a new clone of a crapppy but well liked game get releasd? Did a shallow, heartless, sterile game with a great IP get released?
Not to mention those who will just not like this game, not every game is for everyone.
What I would worry about Sil, is those that come, make it to 20s and disappear with out a sub or continues play with SC purchases. Honestly those who start and then quit inside of the first 10 levels are not going to stay, unless maybe you gut the game and clone it to the aforementioned crappy game, but what would be the point? Like one other game in the SoE stable has done over the years, to limited success.
I have got 5 new people to join with F2P, 3 have subbed. One is playing F2P long term and the 5th is not playing. So thats a good average. 1 of those tried once before, and quit by level 7. when asked, his response was "It wasn't the aforementioned game". Now that I got him to give it a solid proper try, he no longer plays that aforementioned game and has cancelled his sub there in lieu of VG.
Right now your focus should be 100% in game stability and lag, trust me, nothing will shove people out faster, this is a serious detractor. Very hard to get people to pay for a game that does not work. Worse the my typing ability even.
Next up? Better communication at the top, the devs and coders are doing a pretty bang up job with their communication, but you and Andy need to do better. We need to see more of you both, and little hint here and there of the future, and just maybe take a few minutes every day to give us all the warm and fuzzy. Has Andy ever posted?
You had it there for a while, really you did, but its gone away. recapture that Sil, we all know your busy, and we want you to stay busy working on VG, but take time to post each day, even if you just pop in to welcome a new player, or tell us a cool off topic story, or a little dev write up on what was the muse for Slappy! Having you be a part of the ocmmunity is the more important aspect of your position then I think its given credit for.

If you are going to be a crafter, then IoD start is really the best place.
If you are serious about crafting look me up in game, I can give you my insights to levelling up, I have done it 6 times so I have some experience to share that may help you along the way.
